Small garden houses help structure outdoor living spaces and expand home interiors outdoors, whether as small studios, verandas, gyms, playhouses or home offices. These satellite spaces allow the owners to bring additional value to their properties while providing an opportunity to 'escape' in their own back yard. A thoughtful interior decoration approach can turn the smallest garden house into an elegant yet cosy space, to be enjoyed throughout the summer months or during the cold season.

The scope of this project was the realization of a high-quality, contemporary garden house to function as both a sheltered sitting area and storage room. Durable, black-coated side lapping dresses the outside of the volume as a direct reference to the materiality of the traditional sheds specific to the island. The sliding glass panels can be either pulled aside to open the sitting area towards the garden or closed to enable the owners to admire the picturesque and tranquil winter scenery. The warm, earthy tones of the interior create a subtle, intimate mood and provide a unique contrast to the rough, dark texture of the exterior.
